Mousie went to Boston, where he expected to meet the exotic Lobstah and investigate the mysterious Chowdah, to say nothing of visiting the temples of Hahvahd Yahd. But he found something better! He found a Muffaletta. He did not know what to make of the Muffaletta at first - it was so big and scary and complicated. Mousie first tried squeaking to the Muffaletta, and then tried poking it, but it just sat there benignly glistening and crunchy. And it smelled delicious Mousie finally decided to have a nibble. And then another. And then another. And now Mousie is a very full mouse indeed. And the Muffaletta turned out to be harmlessly delicious. Yum.

The ENORMOUS Turkeymonster
Mousie went travelling for Thanksgiving. Yes, Mousie celebrates Thanksgiving - he's thankful for his fellow fuzzy creatures and for being so small that he gets to go everywhere. And for being loved to the point of starting to get a little matted and bald in places like the tips of his nose and ears. Mousie's Thanksgiving adventures so far have been overwhelmingly dominated by the presence of the annual Enormous Turkeymonster. This particular Turkeymonster is different from all other turkeymonsters-past in that it is really ENORMOUS. And Mousie, as you remember, is very small.
Mousie has to be careful around the Turkeymonster, lest it become a Turmousiemonster. Mousie also likes staying clean and dry unless he means to take a bath - if he fell in the pan he'd come out a very soggy mouse, indeed. And very many colors. To get a good look at the Turkeymonster, Mousie had to stand on a special viewing platform. He did not want to be roasted by the heat of the Turkeymonster's lair. But he wanted to get as close as he could to the deliciously terrifyingly delicious beast. He also got another perspective on the Turkeymonster when it was resting and distracting the rest of the family with its delicious enormity.
Mousie is not afraid of the Turkeymonster, in part because the Turkeymonster is delicious. It makes the entire house smell good, too. It looks a bit silly, laying there with its legs and wings in the air and its huge belly rising like the sun. Mousie thinks that the Turkeymonster might also like a blanket, maybe a blanket of mashed potatoes and gravy. The Turkeymonster may be ENORMOUS, and mildly terrifying in its huge blackened steaming bulk, but we give thanks for its delicious sacrifice to the spirit of family and togetherness and love. This is really why Mousie is not afraid of the Turkeymonster - Mousie loves the Turkeymonster.

Mousie's Best Friend
Mousie's best friend and frequent co-venturer is Flippers McGee. Flippers is a porcupine, though his spikes are soft and he has little impishly beady eyes. Don't ask why or how he got his name - though it may have something to do with being Irish. Or it might not. It also might have something to do with a distant great-grand-seal ancestor. Or, once again, maybe not. It most definitely does not have to do with the fact that Flippers McGee is a wonderfully silly name that is fun to shout from the rooftops. No, certainly not.
Flippers McGee is very good at getting lost, whether in a backpack, car, or bed (under cloudy covers or among myriad pillow mountains.) Sometimes he sits on the couch staring out the window, thinking how nice it is to have a couch on which to sit and a window through which to observe the passage of time.
Flippers McGee is a philosopher.
